Description:

The Bayard Cutting Arboretum is located in Great River on the South Shore of Long Island. The arboretum was donated to New York State in 1936 and offers magnificent views across the grounds. The Manor House and the Great Lawn is a tremendous wedding venue, with grass as far as the eye can see. The grounds offer guided tours at an additional fee. Inside the Manor House is the Hidden Oak Café if you would like a bite to eat throughout your adventures. No pets are allowed and recreational activities such as picnicking, sports, games, and bicycle riding are not permitted on the grounds.  However, Heckscher State Park, which adjoins the Arboretum, provides accommodations for picnicking and other active recreational programs. On the trails you will find a wide range of gardens. Some of the gardens include Conifer Garden, Four Seasons Garden, Westbrook Walled Garden, Woodland Garden, and Dahlia Garden. Dahlia Garden was our personal favorite which offered the most stunning array of flowers you may have never seen before. After exploring the gardens, be sure to hike the River Walk which runs along the beautiful Connetquot River. This place is a must visit in the fall and is the perfect peaceful escape from reality.
