Orient Beach State Park

LI HIKE Rating: Easy

Distance: 2 Miles

Cost: $8

Description:

Orient Beach State Park is an unbelievable location at the end of the north fork of Long Island in Orient Point. The park has a beautiful beach, a nice playground for kids, a volleyball court, a soccer field, and a pavilion. We do not recommend the Roy Latham Maritime Forest Trail as it is overgrown and does not provide scenic views. The two mile road between the entrance and the parking lot is where you will experience breathtaking scenery. You will have phenomenal views of the Long Island Sound as you walk or bike along the coastal shoreline; even getting glimpses of the Orient Point Ferries departing in the distance. If you also want to take a weekend trip, hop on the ferry which takes you into New London, Connecticut, located close to the historic Olde Mystick Village in the town of Mystic. This park is approximately 30 minutes east of Hallock State Park Preserve (our most recent previous post), so be sure to check out both locations on your journey out east!
